Rick Wilkerson
Account Executive
With an extensive background in both media and marketing, Rick Wilkerson is a valuable Account Executive at Mi. Throughout his career he has fused entrepreneurial energy, creativity and innovative business strategies to bring about the best possible results for clients.
He began his advertising career with Chicago-based agency Leo Burnett USA, where he managed the US media budgets for several Fortune 500 clients. He returned to Indianapolis with McCann-Erickson to work with McDonald's regional advertising co-ops in Indianapolis, South Bend, Fort Wayne and Terre Haute. In 1994, he co-founded Wilkerson Strategic Marketing, through which he handled local and regional accounts such as State Farm, Indiana Car & Truck (now Burd Auto Mall), Indianapolis Southside Harley-Davidson and Buell and WTIU-Bloomington (PBS), as well as dozens of political candidates and governmental agencies. Wilkerson was also a co-founder of Indianapolis Eye weekly newsmagazine, an online web magazine that operated between 2002 and 2004.
Wilkerson earned his B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from Indiana State University and an M.S. in Telecommunications from Indiana University. He is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, where he teaches advertising courses online.
Wilkerson’s community involvement has included marketing for the Miracle Ride, which has raised more than a million dollars for Riley Hospital for Children. He has volunteered with Parents for Public Education and is helping launch a new Zionsville-based community radio station at 91.9 FM that will go on the air in 2008. He also helped coach girls’ youth basketball at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church. His interests include music, politics, eBay, and the Internet. He is devoted to his partner, Lori, and their family.
