Don’t you love it when the US Postal Service initiates new changes? Well, get ready, because the next ones take effect in just one month.
On November 23, 2008, two address quality rules will become effective:
1. Addresses on your mailing list will have to be updated 95 days before each mailing, which is an increased frequency from the current 185 (calendar) days. The 95-day window starts from when your list was pulled from the database, whether that is your own customer file or a rented list from a broker. (A rented list should already be updated by the provider when you receive it.)
2. Move Update standards will now include all Standard Mail (including letter-size mail), in addition to automation-rate and presort-rate First-Class Mail.
We’ve known this was coming, so our processes are prepared and up to date. Feel free to call us with any questions about how this will affect you and your upcoming campaigns.
